This series of aerial images shot from a small plane explores the abstract, fractal patterns that appear in the natural world in coastal and estuary ecosystems. Shot from small planes around the world, this photo series documents the unique and stunning abstract patterns in these fragile coastal ecosystems.

Coastal estuaries, salt marshes and wetlands are sometimes called the frontlines of climate change - at the frontline of the storms and sea level rise potentially a consequence of global warming. It remains to be seen how the increased levels of water and air pollutants will impact the health of these ecosystems, which have been shown to hold great importance in the balance of atmospheric carbon.
